Cork Folk Festival 2022 features a packed programme.
The 43rd Cork Folk Festival is back again this autumn from 29th September to the 2ndOctober with a packed programme of over 30 events. We are beginning to build our line-up for 2022 and it will be a fully live folk festival. The Headline act this year will be the wonderful singer Mary Black with a full band at the Cork Opera House on October 2nd For Tickets Book Here. Trad audiences will be delighted to hear that Na Deise band DANÚ will also feature along with legendary Chieftains’ musicians Sean Keane (fiddle) and Matt Molloy (flute). The line-up of leading traditional musicians includes three duos’: harpist, Máire Ní Chathasaigh with guitar player Chris Newman, concertina player Caitlín Nic Gabhann with fiddler Ciarán Ó Maonaigh and guitarist Seamie O’Dowd with piper Leonard Barry. At the St Luke’s Venue, we include a showcase from the Baltimore Fiddle Fair who are celebrating 30 year and a CD launch by composer and fiddle player Clare Sands. At an Spailpin Fanach we feature concerts with Gerry Harrington, Peter Browne, Seosaimhín Ní Bheaglaoich, Charlie Piggott, Matt Cranitch and Jackie Daly plus Thomas McCarthy, Brendan Mulvihill, Jimmy Crowley and Eve Telford. ‘Gals at Play’ this year will feature Mary Greene, Niamh Twomey, Alannah Thornburgh and Aileen Mythen. A Celebration of Sliabh Luachra will feature Eoin Stan O’ Sullivan, Emma O’ Leary, Pat Fleming, Maura O’Connor and Bryan O’ Leary. The festival line-up also features a Music Network Tour featuring Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Mark Redmond and Cormac De Barra, singer songwriters will feature also with Padraig Jack in Coughlan’s Bar and Emma Langford in Cyprus Avenue. The final gig of the festival will be the Cork Cajun Band, Two Time Polka at The Crane Lane.
The 4 day festival will also feature a Céilí Mór , Music Workshops, the launch of Jackie Daly’s tune book and a CD launch with Paddy Egan, Storytime for Children, Fiddle, Box and Concertina concerts, Folk fest in the Park and open-air sessions.
